Valtteri’s passion for drumming sparked in his early teens when a friend of his introduced Rush and Neil Peart to him. Until then, Valtteri had listened to bands where drummer’s role was basically just to keep a beat.

 

He had learnt some of those basic beats and rhythms by then but after hearing Moving Picture the boy’s jaw was floored!  It was in that moment Valtteri realised that drums can keep a beat AND play melodically AND support vocals AND… it really was a revelation!

Since then Valtteri has always tried to find the same kind of balance in his own playing - to keep a solid beat while adding some interesting details into the mix!
